We believe
quality is a line responsibility and our most valuable resource is our
employees. TOSOH Quartz, Inc. employees receive

Quartz, Inc. was registered to ISO 9001 in December
1993, becoming the first quartz product manufacturer in the world to receive this
distinction.

TOSOH Quartz is periodically audited by key customers to the Standardized
Supplier Quality Assessment (SSQA) criteria developed by Sematech.

The results of the SSQA and 3rd party ISO audits are
used to drive continuous improvement, thus furthering our quest to achieve
World Class Performance.
TOSOH Quartz uses Statistical Process Control to monitor its manufacturing processes so
that quality is “built in” rather than “inspected in." This allows
the detection of manufacturing variations or errors to take place in real-time
(rather
than when the product is final inspected). In addition to SPC, TQ Portland
also
uses various problem solving tools such as Failure, Mode and Effect
Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiment (DOE) to determine the root cause
of internal failures when they do arise.
